Background...
The Supper Program was created to provide a consistent hot meal for the hungry and homeless in the Southeast area of the city of Rochester. We are currently serving an appetizing meal, which is meant to sustain and nourish and is consistently produced with the greatest of care to approximately 450 guests each week.
Guests...
When we first opened, a high percentage of our guests were homeless. The demographics have since changed and now the majority of our guests have jobs and housing but are living on very limited incomes and are in need of assistance with food. The common thread that binds our guests is the companionship and nourishing fare they receive at Blessed Sacrament. For many the supper program provides their only daily opportunity to interact with others.
Guest Rules...
In order to maintain the pleasant, peaceful atmosphere that has come to be known and enjoyed, the guests are expected to behave in a courteous respectful manner.
Volunteers...
The success of our operation would not be possible without the diverse core of dedicated volunteers who provide time and talent to our program. We are blessed with over 300 volunteers of all ages and denominations living throughout Monroe County.
Donations...
We would not exist without the generosity of Foodlink, Wegman’s, Samaritan Harvest and many local businesses. Donations both food and financial are always welcome and appreciated.
Mission:
The problems are many for most of our guests but our mission is simple- to feed their hunger and hopefully influence them in a positive manner. A kindness that you extend to another can last a lifetime.
