Faith Formation

In an effort to assist parents in their role of primary teachers in the ways of faith, Blessed Sacrament Parish provides Faith Formation classes for children and activities for families during the school year and also in the summer.

Pre School:

Sessions for Pre School age children are held during the 10:00 AM Mass.  Through story, song and structure play activities children are introduced to themes that help them grow in God’s love.  Working under the guidance of a volunteer catechist, these little ones begin to form a community of friends and have concepts taught in the home reinforced.  Sessions are held in the school.  Registration is required.

Kindergarten through Grade 8:

Children in Kindergarten through Grade 8 meet in the school on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Classes are taught by volunteer catechists who follow a Diocesan curriculum. Using age appropriate resources, children learn about our lives as Roman Catholics including worship, service, doctrine and prayers.

Activities are meant to reinforce what is being taught in the home.  Music and group prayer are an integral part of the program.  Family enrichment activities are scheduled during the year to give parents an opportunity to join with us in learning and praying.  Registration is required.

Additional Opportunities for Families with Children

Nursery  is provided in school during the 10:00 AM Mass for young children.  This allows the children to experience that Sunday is special in a way that is age appropriate for them.  Plus, parents are able to more fully enter into worship.

Events for all families with children in the Monroe Clinton Planning Group are scheduled four times during the year and roate among the parishes.  These events are scheduled to connect our families with the Liturgical year, provide materials that can be used in the home and build community with familes who have school aged children.

Summer opportunities (during the month of July):

Vacation Bible Camp  July 26 - July 30, 2010, sponsored in cooperation with our neighboring churches, is a week-long camp that helps children have fun while learning about their faith.  Bible stories, prayer, music, art & crafts, free play  and of course snacks are the components of each day.  Registration is required. (Registration form and more information posted above)
