Simply put, Youth Ministry is the Church’s efforts to help each & every young parishioner grow personally & spiritually! For our parishes, St Boniface, Blessed Sacrament and St Mary’s, that breaks down into High School Youth Group, Middle School Youth Group, Middle School Faith Formation (at both sites) and other youth groupings like our Dance Ministry Group, a Pilgrimage groups working towards attending the National Catholic Youth Conference in November 2009, leadership groups and more.
We offer special events like retreats, service and social justice opportunities as well as many leadership opportunities for middle schoolers, high schoolers and adults. We work to build skills for Disciples of Christ in the 21st century. Our focus is practical as well as theoretical. Our goal is to develop a wide-variety of programs so that we meet many different needs in a comprehensive and intentional way.
Comprehensive Youth Ministry is the idea that ALL Kids are Our Kids. As members of the faith community we need to welcome and support each child of God we encounter, whether they come to church all the time, often or not at all.
What is a Youth Group?Youth Groups are places for young people to meet new friends and old, talk, hang out, play games, find what makes people tick and discover GOD! At Youth Group your opinion will be respected and your viewpoint heard. Every person works to make sure others are comfortable and welcome. We have a lot of fun times, but we get into some pretty serious discussions: from war to dating & violence, to the crisis in the Church, there aren’t any issues that we are afraid to tackle. We learn much from God’s word and the Church’s teaching and from each other too.
High School Youth Group meets every Sunday at St Mary’s Parish (15 St Mary’s Place) in the rectory Commons Room from 5:30 -6:30 for a Shared Supper and 6:30-8:30 pm for our meeting.
Middle School Youth Group meets every Tuesday evening from 7-8 pm at Blessed Sacrament parish (534 Oxford St) in the School Room 11.
NCYC Pilgrim Group - this group of young people and adults work to prepare themselves to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference in Kansas City in November 2009.
